Cataract Surgery
Our doctors perform modern small incision cataract surgery. We specialize in complicated cataract surgery, particularly in patients who have preexisting eye diseases or have had previous eye surgeries. We also will employ the use of specialized intraocular lenses (IOLs) to correct for astigmatism (Toric IOL) or to give both distance and near vision (Multifocal IOL) when indicated. Many patients are referred to our office from other eye doctors for their cataract surgery, particularly in complicated cases. If you have pre-existing glaucoma, tiny stents (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery or MIGS) can be inserted during your cataract surgery to help lower eye pressure.
Previous corneal surgeries, especially refractive procedures such as LASIK, PRK or RK, commonly induce changes to the shape of the cornea and significantly impact the calculation of your IOL power for cataract surgery. Our specialty training in cornea provides particular expertise in such situations. We will employ the newest technology available to help you determine the most accurate IOL power possible to meet your visual needs.
